A one-time mystery man is proving that you just need to be in the right place at the right time to get your campaign noticed and become viral.
Paul Yarrow, whose name was only discovered very recently, has been making appearances on live news reports in London. Two months ago, “the fat guy” was a bystander who just happened to be on TV – a lot. He is now an international media sensation, featuring in the nationals worldwide.
French broadsheet Nouvel Observateur has named him the fat guy who has invaded British TV screens. Spanish newspaper El Mundo calls him the ghost touring British television. UK website Fidgetwith.com has even developed a flash game called “Kick the News Stalker”.
But Yarrow is not just a fat guy wanting to get on TV. In an interview with the Evening Standard he was quoted as saying: “It is a statement about the image conscious media. I am overweight and people like me are treated as unsightly because of the way they look.”
His message may have got a little skewed along the way, but there’s a lot to be said for hitting the right place at the right time. According to mrlowdangle’s Youtube comment, Paul Yarrow is “an inspiration”.
