Earth Day 2021: Want to switch to renewable energy?

This #earthday2021, we at Rubber Republic have all switched to renewable energy. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been working from home. We have always powered our offices with renewable offices and offset our energy costs, and many of the team were already with renewable energy providers – but today we’ve all switched.

Are you feeling inspired? We want to help you change your energy provider. Energy from coal, gas and petroleum are major sources of CO2 emissions and make up 21% of the UK’s emissions, the second-largest sector after transport. Switching to renewable energy providers such as Good Energy and Ecotricity to bring down our footprints and emissions of the UK.

Ready? Here is a walkthrough of how to switch energy providers. The good news is that it is easy and quick!

  1. Choose a renewable energy provider. We recommend Good Energy and Ecotricity. These two companies offer 100% renewable energy and gas and invest money into renewable energy infrastructure such as wind farms. But Octopus, Bulb, Pure Planet, and GEUK are also options.
  2. Choose a tariff that suits your needs. These tariffs are tailored to you based on your address, energy consumption etc. Things to check here are exit fees, do you require a smart meter, any upfront payments.
  3. Once you have chosen your supplier, it often takes around 16 days for your electricity to switch and 18 days for your gas to switch over. All done! You can now use all the energy you want without harming the planet!
