Glassjaw @ Mario's Pizzeria Glassjaw are a now unsigned post-hardcore band from New York. Their last album was released in 2002 and since then they've made a few new tunes but generally (intentionally or not) remained enigmatic and secretive. That was until they announced - via a low-fi poster on their website - a new 7" single, due on 1.11pm on 11/11 for $11.11 at a pizzeria in their hometown. 88 vinyls were available to the first 88 customers ordering a special 7" pizza. What came as a bigger surprise was the message printed inside the pizza box - an invitation to an exclusive 'gig'. Once there, the first few through the door given a FlipCam and unexpectedly became the directors of a Glassjaw single-take music video. The nicest thing about this campaign is its playfulness, and how a small core of fans amplified its message to the wider world - some brands could learn a lot from this. |
