Double Rainbow
The story behind the "Double Rainbow" meme is a simple one: an ex-cage fighter (Yosemite Bear) living in the middle of nowhere spots a rainbow one afternoon. However it isn't any old rainbow, but a double rainbow. In true awe of this, Yosemite Bear videos the experience and uploads it to YouTube. The video remains in obscurity for 6 months or so, until US TV host Jimmy Kimmel tweets the video in early July. This tweet then snow-balls with the Huffington Post and other sites picking up on it. Days later it goes viral and is seen by millions. The original video is then remixed into an auto-tune style song, a "Double KFC" spoof and epic film trailer. To top it off, as with any true meme, a "making of" documentary has now been made of how the whole double meme phenomenon came about. All truly bizarre, but awesome. Triple rainbow anyone? |
